Job summary

Ambition Mechanical Services in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a versatile HVAC Mechanical Estimator to lead our preconstruction efforts. You will manage the full lifecycle of bids for retrofit, ground-up, and complex commercial or industrial projects valued up to multi-millions.

You will develop concept budgets, perform schematic and final estimates, and collaborate with vendors and subs to ensure complete coverage of trades such as controls, insulation, and TAB.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of mechanical estimating experience.
• Deep understanding of HVAC systems, codes, and retrofitting.
• Experience using estimating tools listed (FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Trimble, Bluebeam).

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual, schematic, and final bid estimates for projects up to $15 million.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternatives to meet budget targets.
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from subs to cover all trades (controls, insulation, TAB).
• Provide cradle-to-grave turnover briefs to project managers for seamless bid-to-execution transition.

We are seeking a versatile HVAC Estimator to lead our preconstruction efforts. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of a bid - from initial conceptual budgeting for retrofits, ground up construction to estimating complex multi-million dollar commercial or industrial mechanical construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Estimation: Lead conceptual, schematic, and final bid-day estimates for projects up to $15 million
• Value Engineering: Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative equipment selections to maintain budget without compromising performance
• Subcontractor Management: Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing, ensuring complete scope coverage for trades like controls, insulation, and TAB
• Project Turnover: Provide comprehensive "cradle-to-grave" briefings to project managers to ensure seamless transition from bid to execution

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: Minimum 5-8 years of mechanical estimating experience, with a proven track record on projects exceeding $5 million
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of HVAC systems (ductwork, piping, controls) building codes, and mechanical retrofitting
• Software Proficiency: Must have experience in using estimating software like FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Trimble and Bluebeam
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management preferred, or equivalent work experience in HVAC mechanical estimating
