Job summary

HANNAS MECHANICAL CONTRACTORS INC is seeking a Mechanical Estimator / Project Coordinator in New Jersey to prepare accurate cost estimates for design/build and public bid mechanical projects. You will support projects from bidding through coordination, evaluating plans, managing pricing, and assisting with procurement and job execution.

Responsibilities include detailed estimating, purchasing, submittal review, HVAC estimation, and maintaining cost data.

Qualifications

• Experience with design/build or public bid estimating.
• Ability to read blueprints, specs, and addenda.
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.

• Obtain and evaluate pricing for materials, labor, equipment, and subs.
• Review plans to identify discrepancies and propose solutions.
• Maintain estimating logs, unit costs and historical pricing data.
• Build and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
• Conduct site surveys and attend pre-bid walkthroughs as needed.
• Manage multiple bids and meet deadlines through the bid process.
• Evaluate scope changes and adjust estimates accordingly.
• Read quantities and values to assist with procurement of equipment and materials.

Position Summary The Mechanical Estimator / Project Coordinator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for design/build and public bid mechanical projects. This role supports projects from bidding through coordination by evaluating plans and specifications, managing pricing, and assisting with procurement and job execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for design/bid and public bid projects by reviewing proposals, blueprints, specifications, addendums, and related documents
• Perform estimating, purchasing, submittal review, and overall job coordination
• Accurately estimate HVAC systems based on plans and specifications using computer-based estimating systems and related software
• Obtain, review, and evaluate pricing for materials, direct labor, manufacturing equipment, and subcontractor quotes
• Review plans and specifications to identify discrepancies and determine appropriate solutions
• Maintain detailed estimating logs, unit costs, and historical pricing data for all projects
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors
• Perform site surveys and attend pre-bid walkthroughs as required
• Manage multiple bids simultaneously while meeting deadlines throughout the entire bid process
• Evaluate scope changes and adapt quickly as project requirements evolve during bidding
• Read and interpret estimated quantities and values, and assist with procurement of equipment and materials
