Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to conduct field investigations and determine scope and cost estimates for mechanical aspects of large-scale projects in New Albany, OH. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes, resolving complex issues to meet project requirements and client needs.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
• 10+ years of progressive work experience, including supervision, preferably in project and staff design engineering but may include startup, field engineering or plant operation in large industrial plants utilities, process plants or engineering/construction firms.
• Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved and current knowledge of new methods of design and construction.
• Must have the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Directs and manages mechanical design and engineering activities for projects or scopes of medium to large scale.
• Manages complex interactions among multiple Bechtel entities or client-mandated collaborations with other contractors as required.
• Experience on Dry Systems (HVAC, Cleanrooms, etc.) on Semiconductor and/or Datacenter projects will be an added advantage.
• In depth knowledge of equipment packages such as Air Handling Systems, Air Condensing units, Variable Air, Volume Units and Cleanroom Recirculation Air and Exhaust Systems.
• Good working knowledge of ASHRAE, SMACNA and IMC standards for HVAC and Air Handling Units.
• Experience in PFD/P&IDs, Schematics, HVAC heat / cooling load calculations, HVAC ducting layouts, equipment datasheets, specifications, material requisitions and supplier submittal reviews.
• Supports inputs to the engineering components of a mechanical estimate including quantities, job hours and budgets for both proposals and execution phases.
• Performs and manages the work in accordance with relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design guides and BSAPs.
• Supports mechanical engineering schedule in collaboration with all engineering disciplines.
• Collaborates with Procurement, Construction, Startup, ES&H, and Project Controls to align mechanical engineering tasks.
• Prepares / Approves bid analyses and recommendations for procurement of assigned mechanical equipment, materials, and services.
• Responsible for addressing and resolving mechanical engineering-related field or jobsite issues.
• Conduct site visits as necessary to facilitate the exchange of information.
• Supports Technical Risk Assessments, safety protocols and ensures mechanical engineering procedures follow the project's Quality Assurance plan and procedures.
• Effectively conveys complex technical matters and offers suitable recommendations to clients, project and functional management.
