Job summary

Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) is seeking a semi-skilled Mechanic II for preventive maintenance of HVAC equipment in school facilities. The role involves scheduled maintenance, recording time/materials, and assisting HVAC technicians.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and at least two years in general maintenance; CFC cert and HVAC education are preferred. Duties include safety compliance and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of general maintenance experience including preventive maintenance.
• Preferred: CFC Certification and HVAC program enrollment/completion.

Responsibilities

• Replace belts and filters; lubricate equipment.
• Inspect equipment and report needed repairs.
• Maintain accurate time and materials records for work orders.
• Assist HVAC technicians with installations, repairs and duct cleaning.
• Operate safely and follow AFSCME procedures and building safety rules.
