Job summary

Washington State University Spokane is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic 2 - HVAC to install, maintain and repair HVAC systems and related equipment across campus, including critical research environments. You will troubleshoot HVAC systems, perform preventive maintenance, and use building automation systems (Siemens Insight, Siemens Desigo, Ecostruxure) to monitor operations.

A valid driver's license and after-hours availability are required.

Qualifications

• High school graduation and four years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction or repair work, or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade.
• Experience in installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems in large or complex buildings.
• Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet driving standards.
• Ability to respond to emergencies, after-hours, and on-call maintenance needs as required.
• Computer knowledge and skills specialized in building automation systems, specifically HVAC equipment, lighting, alarm systems connected to HVAC operation, project file maintenance, record documentation, and client communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems and associated mechanical equipment to support safe and reliable campus operations.
• Troubleshoot heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems; perform preventive maintenance and ensure proper system performance.
• Use building automation systems such as Siemens Insight, Siemens Desigo, and Ecostruxure to monitor, diagnose, and support HVAC equipment operation.
• Electrical and mechanical maintenance; coordinate work orders; ensure safety compliance; perform general building repairs.

Education

High school graduation and four years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade; OR equivalent education/experience
