Job summary

Carrier is seeking an experienced HVAC Engineering Staff Lab Technician for 1st shift in Charlotte. You will execute test runs on water‑cooled and air‑cooled commercial chillers, set up instrumentation, monitor data, and ensure reliability before units ship to hospitals and data centers.

You will work with high‑power electrical systems (460V/3ph/60Hz), perform diagnostics, calibrate lab equipment, and uphold strict safety and 5S standards in a fast‑paced production environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years’ experience servicing/maintaining commercial HVAC equipment.
• AS/AAS in Mechatronics Engineering Technology or completion of Skilled Trades Apprenticeship preferred.

Responsibilities

• Test Execution: run test cycles, set up chillers with instrumentation and monitor data collection.
• Electrical Expertise: work safely with high‑voltage equipment (460V/3ph/60Hz) while adhering to safety standards.
• Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: identify failures in PLCs, VFDs, or instrumentation and coordinate repairs.
• Precision Calibration: calibrate equipment for pressure, temperature, flow, and electrical measurements; tune loops.
• Facility Oversight: manage support infrastructure like boilers, cooling towers and high‑pressure pumping systems.
• EHS & Compliance: uphold Carrier’s EHS policies and 5S standards; enforce arc flash and lockout procedures.
