Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation in Charlotte is seeking an HVAC Engineering Staff Lab Technician for 1st shift to directly execute test runs on water-cooled and air-cooled commercial chillers. You will set up instrumentation, monitor data, and ensure performance aligns with customer specs.

You will work with 460V/3ph/60Hz equipment, maintain EPA refrigerant handling certification, and troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, and instrumentation to keep lab productivity high and meet ramp-up timelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED required.
• 5+ years experience servicing/maintaining commercial HVAC equipment.
• EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
• Ability to set up test runs with instrumentation.
• Strong safety compliance and arc flash knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Execute test runs and set up chillers with instrumentation.
• Work safely with 460V/3ph/60Hz equipment; EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, or instrumentation.
• Calibrate lab equipment for pressure, temperature, flow, and electrical measurements.
• Manage support infrastructure like boilers, cooling towers, and high-pressure pumping systems.
• Ensure EHS compliance and 5S standards.
