Job summary

UL Solutions in Plano, TX is seeking an onsite HVAC-focused technician for the second shift (3pm–11:30pm). The role involves setting up and operating test equipment, reading blueprints and datasheets, and communicating with clients during tests.

A 2-year HVAC degree or equivalent training plus EPA certification is required, with prior HVAC experience preferred. Responsibilities include performing routine equipment maintenance, basic calibration, and data reporting.

Qualifications

• HVAC-related vocational training or 2-year degree required.
• Universal EPA certification required or clearly documented as part of qualifications.
• Prior HVAC installation, repair, or testing experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude essential.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work one of the above shifts.

Responsibilities

• Setup and performance of equipment and test setups for clients.
• Builds/adapts setup and test equipment for performance of tests.
• Reads blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, measuring instruments, and instructions.
• Follows defined test plans and datasheets.
• Evaluates test performance and sample operation.
• Records and explains test results and completes test reports.
• Directs staff in test setups as needed and communicates with clients during tests.
• Operates designated machines and laboratory equipment; performs routine maintenance.
• Performs basic calibration and reads test standards; proposes equipment improvements.
