Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking an HVAC TB Journeymen Mechanic I to service light to heavy commercial HVAC systems. You will perform maintenance, repair, and installation activities, troubleshoot issues, and provide solutions that improve facility performance and efficiency.

You will work with journeymen, servicemen, and apprentices, applying your piping, plumbing, and mechanical skills while traveling up to 20% to support branch activities. This role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of commercial/industrial HVAC troubleshooting experience.
• Practical work experience in HVAC piping, plumbing, or mechanical equipment service.
• Experience with rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing.
• Mechanical shaft alignment using dial indicators; ability to use vibration equipment.
• Ability to pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
• Membership in, or willingness to join, the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
• Willingness to travel 10–20% to support branch activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating and cooling systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve HVAC service issues in light to heavy commercial environments.
• Partner with journeymen on repair of centrifugal, steam turbine, and open-drive screw chillers.
• Support commissioning and aftermarket service by identifying facility inefficiencies and service-related issues.
• Provide recommendations, solutions, and quotes to improve system performance and efficiency.
• Support branch customer activities, troubleshooting, installation, and repair.
• Communicate problem, cause, and corrective actions clearly to customers and internal teams.
