Job summary

Daikin Applied in Louisville, KY is seeking a full-time HVAC Journeyman to service commercial and industrial equipment. You will inspect, test, and repair chillers, rooftop units, air handling equipment, and boilers, with ongoing training and career growth opportunities.

You will lead apprentices, document timecards and billing, and participate in safety programs while maintaining licenses and certifications. The role is on-site with union-provided benefits and a competitive starting rate.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; HVAC certification preferred.
• 5+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility.
• Journeyman status accepted by the union; EPA Universal Technician preferred.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Service and test HVAC equipment including chillers, rooftop units, and water source heat pumps.
• Repair and replace defective components; perform diagnostics and brazing.
• Educate customers on operation, maintenance, and manuals.
• Lead apprentices and document billing, timecards, and reports.
• Attend trainings and maintain required certifications; follow safety policies.

Come be part of an exciting journey at Daikin Applied, where innovation and excellence drive everything we do!**Location:**Louisville, KY – Onsite**Your Responsibilities:*** Perform service of equipment including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality including but not limited to chillers, fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes* Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring* Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks* Perform intermediate and advanced independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipefitting, and brazing of commercial HVAC equipment* Conduct warranty service application by independently inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of all commercial HVAC equipment* Educate technical and non-technical customers on proper use of equipment, maintenance schedule, and operating manual usage* Lead and participate in the rebuild and retrofit of commercial HVAC level units including the direction of apprentice level technicians through hands-on demonstration of the necessary steps* Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner* Download programs into commercial HVAC equipment and Micro controllers and analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performance* Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, and off-site learning modules* Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets* Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld* Complete jobsite hazard assessment prior to initiating service and adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelines**Your Qualifications:*** High School Diploma or GED* Associates Degree or technical school HVAC certification (preferred)* 5+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience* Accepted as Journeyman by the union* Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record* Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district* Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required* Previous experience in mentoring less experienced technicians* EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)* OSHA 10 certification (preferred)* Current first aid / CPR card (preferred)Work visa sponsorship is not available for this positionThe expected hourly rate for this position starts at $50.00 in KY. The rate is subject to the amount outlined in the CBA and could change based on the level offered.
