Job summary

Daikin Applied is seeking a full-time Journeyman HVAC technician in Indianapolis, IN. You will service and test a broad range of commercial systems, including chillers and boilers, with opportunities for hands-on training and advancement.

You will mentor apprentices, conduct diagnostics, and ensure safety compliance on job sites while maintaining documentation and following company policies. A valid driver’s license is required and EPA/OSHA certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree or HVAC certification preferred.
• 5+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Journeyman status by Local Union 440 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Service and inspect HVAC equipment (chillers, rooftops, water source heat pumps, units) to verify functionality.
• Repair or replace defective components and wiring; perform diagnostics and brazing as needed.
• Lead apprentices on-site, demonstrating steps and ensuring safety compliance.
• Document billing, timecards, and reports promptly; manage parts inventory.
• Adhere to OSHA safety policies and maintain clean, safe job sites.

Come be part of an exciting journey at Daikin Applied, where innovation and excellence drive everything we do!Location: Indianapolis, INYour Responsibilities:Perform service of equipment including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality including but not limited to chillers, fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubesRepair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiringMaintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacksPerform intermediate and advanced independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipefitting, and brazing of commercial HVAC equipmentConduct warranty service application by independently inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of all commercial HVAC equipmentEducate technical and non-technical customers on proper use of equipment, maintenance schedule, and operating manual usageLead and participate in the rebuild and retrofit of commercial HVAC level units including the direction of apprentice level technicians through hands-on demonstration of the necessary stepsRecord and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely mannerDownload programs into commercial HVAC equipment and Micro controllers and analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performanceParticipate in available training through regional technician trainers, and off-site learning modulesMaintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill setsEnsure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheldComplete jobsite hazard assessment prior to initiating service and adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelinesYour Qualifications:High School Diploma or GEDAssociates Degree or technical school HVAC certification (preferred)5+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experienceAccepted as Journeyman by the Local Union 440Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving recordRequired license(s) and/or training card as required by local law districtRotational Emergency Call Support availability as requiredPrevious experience in mentoring less experienced techniciansEPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)OSHA 10 certification (preferred)Current first aid / CPR card (preferred)Work visa sponsorship is not available for this positionThe expected hourly rate for this position is $53.00 in IN. The rate is subject to the amount outlined in the CBA and could change based on the level offered.
