Daikin Applied Americas in Louisville, KY is seeking a full-time HVAC Journeyman to service commercial and industrial equipment onsite. You’ll perform diagnostics, repairs, and complex system tune-ups, while mentoring apprentices and maintaining safety standards.

The role requires strong technical expertise, valid Journeyman status, EPA universal certification (preferred), and union-aligned compensation. Onsite training and diverse equipment exposure are offered within a safety‑mocused

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Associate's Degree or technical HVAC certification (preferred).
• 5+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility or equivalent.
• Accepted as a Journeyman by the Local Union 502.
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred).
• OSHA 10 certification (preferred).
• Current first aid / CPR card (preferred).

Responsabilités

• Perform service of equipment including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality.
• Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring.
• Maintain and inspect equipment to prevent breakdowns or callbacks.
• Diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipefitting, and brazing of commercial HVAC equipment.
• Conduct warranty service inspections and testing.
• Educate customers on proper use and maintenance.
• Lead and mentor apprentice technicians through hands-on guidance.
• Record billing, inventory, timecards, and reports timely.
• Download programs into HVAC equipment and analyze chiller data.
• Participate in regional training and other learning modules.
• Maintain all required certifications and safety standards.
• Ensure clean work area and adhere to safety policies.

Location: Louisville, KY – Onsite

Your Responsibilities

• Perform service of equipment including inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality including but not limited to chillers, fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes
• Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring
• Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks
• Perform intermediate and advanced independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipefitting, and brazing of commercial HVAC equipment
• Conduct warranty service application by independently inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of all commercial HVAC equipment
• Educate technical and non-technical customers on proper use of equipment, maintenance schedule, and operating manual usage
• Lead and participate in the rebuild and retrofit of commercial HVAC level units including the direction of apprentice level technicians through hands‑on demonstration of the necessary steps
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner
• Download programs into commercial HVAC equipment and Micro controllers and analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performance
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, and off-site learning modules
• Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld
• Complete jobsite hazard assessment prior to initiating service and adhere to Daikin Applied and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelines

Your Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Associate's Degree or technical school HVAC certification (preferred)
• 5+ years of related experience with increasing responsibility or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Accepted as a Journeyman by the Local Union 502
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required
• Previous experience in mentoring less experienced technicians
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)
• OSHA 10 certification (preferred)
• Current first aid / CPR card (preferred)

The expected hourly rate for this position starts at $50.00 in KY. The rate is subject to the amount outlined in the CBA and could change based on the level offered. Benefits are provided through a local labor union and aligned to the CBA.
