A well-established mechanical contractor serving Northern Michigan seeks an HVAC Installation Manager in Traverse City, MI. You will lead the residential installation department, coach crews, and ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to high quality standards.

This hands-on leadership role focuses on developing people, optimizing scheduling, managing labor productivity, and delivering an exceptional customer experience from kickoff to completion.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of residential HVAC installation experience.
• 3+ years in installation leadership or supervision.
• Proven experience leading multiple installation crews.
• Knowledge of furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, mini-splits.
• Strong leadership, scheduling, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Experience with tablets, scheduling software, and mobile technology.
• Excellent communication and customer service.
• Stable work history with leadership progression.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the residential HVAC installation department.
• Coach and develop Lead Installers, Installers, and Apprentices.
• Schedule installation crews and allocate labor to maximize productivity.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to company quality standards.
• Conduct jobsite visits to inspect workmanship and provide coaching.
• Resolve installation challenges and provide technical support for field teams.
• Coordinate with Sales, Project Management, Purchasing, and Service departments for smooth execution.
• Monitor labor efficiency, project profitability, and departmental KPIs.
• Recruit, interview, onboard, and train installation personnel.
• Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, manufacturer, and local codes.
• Oversee fleet, equipment, inventory, and tool management.
• Address customer concerns professionally and ensure satisfaction.
• Identify opportunities to improve installation processes, efficiency, and quality.

The HVAC Installation Manager is responsible for leading the residential HVAC installation department while ensuring every project is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the company’s quality standards. This leadership role oversees installation teams, scheduling, project execution, training, and departmental performance while working closely with sales, service, and operations. Success in this role requires a hands-on leader who can develop people, improve processes, solve field challenges, and deliver an exceptional customer experience from project kickoff through completion.

Compensation

$90,000-120,000 annually (DOE, leadership experience, certifications, and licensing)

• EPA Universal Certification
• NATE Certification
• Residential boiler installation experience
• Light commercial HVAC experience
• Experience with ServiceTitan or similar field management software
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
• Experience managing inventory and warehouse operations
