Job description

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and highly mobile HVAC & Generator Mechanic to support maintenance, repair, and operational readiness across a variety of project sites. This role requires flexibility, independence, and strong technical expertise in both HVAC systems and generator equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair on HVAC systems, including
    • Portable HVAC units
    • Air handlers
    • Chillers
    • Rooftop units (RTUs)
    • Split systems
    • Ventilation systems
  • Inspect, maintain, and service diesel and/or natural gas generators (20kW–200kW)
    • Conduct load testing
    • Perform minor repairs and system checks
    • Work in mixed environments (3-phase and single-phase systems)
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues and implement effective solutions
  • Conduct system performance evaluations to confirm compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards
  • Complete service reports, maintenance logs, and documentation accurately and on time
  • Travel frequently, often on short notice, to support maintenance and emergency service needs
  • Coordinate with project managers, facility personnel, and subcontractors
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, state and local standards, company policies, and site‑specific safety requirements
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in good working condition
  • Assist with system installations and upgrades as needed
Typical Day

You will travel between sites, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, repair, and document work, while coordinating with site staff and ensuring safety compliance.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of HVAC maintenance and repair experience (commercial or industrial preferred)
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and mechanical/electrical components
  • Experience servicing generators (diesel, natural gas, or standby systems)
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and work outdoors in various weather conditions
Preferred Experience
  • Journeyman HVAC license or equivalent certification
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Generator certifications (e.g., Cummins, CAT, Generac)
  • Experience in government, federal, or mission‑critical environments
  • Forklift operation experience
