Job summary

Bushland Independent School District is seeking a Skilled Maintenance Worker to maintain, repair, and install heating and air conditioning systems across district facilities. Under general supervision, you will ensure safe operation of HVAC and electrical systems and assist other maintenance staff in general facility upkeep.

The role requires knowledge of HVAC repairs, ability to read blueprints, and the capacity to perform calculations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Clear and valid Texas driver’s license.
• HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation knowledge.
• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written material.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve problems.
• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Ability to obtain a class D water license within a year of employment.
• Two years experience in general building maintenance and/or licensed/experienced in HVAC and electrical.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair malfunctions in heating and air conditioning systems; repair, replace, or calibrate controls including thermostats and switches.
• Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all HVAC equipment, including filters, condensers, and coils; perform duct cleaning and air quality testing as needed.
• Receive and complete work orders; select materials, estimate time and materials cost, and maintain records of materials used.
• Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
• Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
• Respond to emergency calls as needed.
