Job summary

Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is seeking a Skilled Trades Assistant to learn and assist in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing maintenance across LVCC facilities. You will support journey-level tradespeople in installation, diagnosis, and repair of boilers, chillers, and related equipment, while reading blueprints and maintaining safety standards.

The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to PPE, and the ability to operate diagnostic tools and aerial lifts.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Certificate program in a technical field or 1 year of relevant experience.
Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
Willingness to wear PPE and follow safety rules.
Read and interpret blueprints to diagnose repairs.
Operate tools and diagnostic equipment as needed.
Basic math skills and computer literacy are expected.

Responsibilities

Assist journey-level trades to learn HVAC and related practices.
Support installation, maintenance and repairs of boilers, chillers, pumps, generators, motors, electrical, kitchen and refrigeration equipment.
Obtain and organize tools, equipment, and materials for the assigned tradesperson.
Learn troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of systems equipment.
Safely operate common power and hand tools and diagnostic devices.
Read blueprints and schematics to diagnose repairs.
Complete work orders and maintain logs; ensure area is clean after job.
Assist skilled tradespersons in maintaining logs and records.
