Job summary

NIST is seeking an A/C Equipment Mechanic to support the safe and reliable operation of complex HVAC systems across campus. You will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heating and cooling equipment to ensure research laboratories, specialized spaces, and campus buildings maintain the environmental conditions needed to operate efficiently and without interruption.

Qualifications

• Experience with operating and maintaining large HVAC systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
• Willingness to perform winter snow removal as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and regulate large HVAC systems to maintain temperatures, humidity, and air quality.
• Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on HVAC equipment including boilers, chillers, and control systems.
• Interpret blueprints and specifications to plan repairs and ensure compliance with codes.
• Conduct tests and adjustments to optimize system performance.
• Assist with snow removal and winter operations as required.
