Job summary

East Carolina University is seeking an HVAC Mechanic to perform journey-level HVAC work across campus buildings, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems. The role supports building automation and pneumatic controls under the supervision of the HVAC supervisor.

The position requires strong diagnostic skills, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work a Monday–Friday schedule with on‑call duties as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
• Experience with HVAC systems and related controls is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and operational support for HVAC systems and equipment.
• Performs skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operation of HVAC and refrigeration systems and related controls.
• Inspects campus buildings and equipment, performs repairs, and maintains operational records.
• Assists with training mechanics and maintains training records and documentation.
