Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a Design for Manufacturability SME to optimize product designs for manufacturability, cost, and quality. You will partner with engineering, operations, sourcing, and quality to influence designs from concept through production launch.

The role demands a strong manufacturing background, Lean/Six Sigma expertise, and the ability to drive continuous improvement across processes and product lines. Domestic travel up to 50% is possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in product design, manufacturing engineering, or NPI.
• Strong understanding of machining, sheet metal, welding, casting, molding, assembly.
• Ability to read drawings, GD&T, BOM structures.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with design and manufacturing to ensure DFx alignment.
• Review designs, BOMs, and drawings for manufacturability and cost.
• Provide early DFM/DFA recommendations to reduce complexity and improve yield.
• Support NPI, production readiness, and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Lead cross-functional design reviews and drive process improvements.
• Document manufacturing requirements and lessons learned.
