Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an HVAC Controls Systems Designer in Norfolk, VA to design and program HVAC control systems under supervision. You will translate project requirements into hardware, software, submittals, and installation docs while supporting commissioning and basic warranty response.

The role requires a university degree or equivalent experience, plus knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, and strong technical and computer skills.

Qualifications

• Experience installing and commissioning controls systems.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Ability to document and communicate design decisions.
• Basic warranty troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC control system hardware and software per standards.
• Prepare submittals, drawings, and BOMs.
• Assist with loading and commissioning system controllers.
• Coordinate drawings, schedules, and manuals.
• Support site training and safety compliance.
• Respond to warranty issues and provide basic troubleshooting.
