Job summary

Johnson Controls in Houston seeks an engineer to design, configure, and operate complete building control systems, including fire, security, and low‑voltage subsystems. You will develop software, produce submittals, and coordinate with customers, consultants, and field teams to ensure quality and on‑time delivery.

Required is a Bachelor's in engineering with 3+ years' experience, plus knowledge of HVAC, control theory, and building automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and minimum 3 years' experience.
• Knowledge of the construction or HVAC industry.
• Knowledge of control theory and building automation systems.
• Experience with JCI software programming.
• Experience integrating low-voltage subsystems using protocols (LON, BACnet).
• Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
• Strong CAD/drafting skills.
• Ability to travel regularly.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and operate building control systems (fire, security, lighting, nurse call, data networks) per project requirements.
• Develop and test software programs for system operation.
• Provide submittals and communicate design to customers, consultants, field team, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
• Order, track, and manage materials for projects.
• Coordinate factory-mounting processes to meet schedule.
• Assist in loading, commissioning, and validation of system controllers.
• Provide field changes for as-built drawings and software.
• Keep management informed of progress and issues.
• Assist in site-specific owner/operator training.
• Travel is required.
