Job summary

Michael James Construction, Inc. is seeking a CAD/Design Engineer to assist in the design, development and improvement of HVAC products. You will create 3D models and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks, prepare sales drawings and ensure data accuracy in the ERP system.

The role requires strong CAD skills, attention to detail and the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering and manufacturing teams. Experience with SolidWorks PDM and a low-volume, high-mix environment is helpful.

Qualifications

Strong drafting and design skills.
Understanding of section and orthographic views.
Understanding of proper dimension placement and drawing layout.
Understanding of assembly and exploded assembly views.
Understanding of basic tolerances and their effect on part fit and assembly.
HVAC experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks.
Prepare sales drawings showing unit layouts, overall dimensions and project requirements.
Develop unit models and manufacturing drawings based on project specifications and approved sales drawings.
Enter and maintain required part, assembly and project information in the ERP system, including bills of materials as assigned.
Check models, drawings and bills of materials for accuracy and consistency before submitting for review.
Maintain CAD files and revisions using SolidWorks PDM and follow established review procedures.
Work with other engineers and designers in the design and optimization of products.
Work with manufacturing on the shop floor to resolve design issues.
