Job summary

Johnson Controls’ Operations & Maintenance Specialist II will be based at Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, GA, handling HVAC and mechanical systems with additional building maintenance tasks. The role requires providing guidance to junior staff and planning material needs for repairs and preventive maintenance, working from drawings or verbal instructions.

Applicants should have a two-year technical degree or equivalent experience, with six+ years in operations and maintenance; EPA Refrigeration

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree or four years of experience as an O&M Specialist II, or completion of an apprenticeship program.
• Six or more years of experience in operations and maintenance.
• In-depth knowledge of maintenance fundamentals to handle service and repairs.
• Physically able to perform basic maintenance tasks (climb ladders, confined spaces, lift up to 50 lbs).
• Must work varying shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.
• Universal EPA Refrigeration Certification.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair, maintain, monitor and adjust HVAC systems to stay within parameters.
• Perform a range of maintenance and custodial tasks including carpentry, painting and plumbing.
• Provide direction and training to less experienced O&M Specialists.
• Plan and lay out materials for service and preventive maintenance work.
• Work from drawings, schematics, blueprints or instructions and operate related tools.
• Requisition new supplies and equipment.
• Follow safety procedures for all work performed.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency situations.
• Comply with company policies and perform other duties as required.
