Job summary

Travis County’s Facilities Management Department seeks a Building Automation Specialist to oversee HVAC BAS design, programming, and commissioning for county facilities. The role includes creating graphical documentation, training staff, and coordinating with BAS vendors to ensure reliable operation.

Required are an associate degree in Building Automation or equivalent, plus 5 years of BAS experience. A valid Texas driver’s license and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Building Automation or related field with 5 years of BAS experience; or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Knowledge of HVAC codes, systems, and related laws; experience with BAS hardware/software.
• Ability to read schematics/blueprints and interpret technical documents.
• Familiarity with installing and configuring BAS hardware and software; testing and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Lay out and design HVAC BAS for new Travis County facilities.
• Program BAS to specified sequences of operation.
• Customize graphical screens for BAS interfaces and document projects.
• Train maintenance staff on BAS applications and software.
• Manage HVAC BAS projects from inception to completion and report vendor performance.
• Coordinate with vendors and maintain relationships with BAS suppliers.
• Evaluate new BAS software and hardware for county facilities.
• Assist in hardware/software setup and track licenses and passwords.
• Provide user training and support for BAS HVAC systems.
