Job summary

Travis County is seeking a skilled HVAC professional to maintain and repair climate control systems across County buildings in Austin, TX. The role emphasizes BAS and direct digital controls (DDC) to optimize efficiency while handling large chillers, boilers, and related equipment.

Required: Associate degree in a technical field, 5 years in chiller/boiler maintenance, EPA Universal Certification, and a valid Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a technical field and 5 years of chiller/boiler maintenance experience.
  • EPA Universal Certification required.
  • Texas Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine maintenance and repair on chilled water cooling systems and hot water/steam heating systems, including related equipment.
  • Performs daily, weekly and monthly inspection, testing, certification, maintenance and repairs on the large chilled water and heating systems.
  • Maintains Refrigerant logs and Refrigerant Monitors for assigned systems.
  • Inspects and corrects settings for control, and safety devices associated with chillers/boilers.
  • Provides on-the-job training and serves as crew leader for mechanics on chiller/boiler systems.
  • Department: Facilities Management; Location: Travis County facilities.
