Job summary

Kelso Building Services seeks an experienced HVAC Controls Technician to service, troubleshoot, and optimize Building Automation Systems across commercial facilities. You will work on BAS controllers, plant equipment, and integrated smart building technologies, supporting remote diagnostics and field operations.

You will diagnose complex HVAC and control issues, perform preventative maintenance, contribute to commissioning activities, and maintain strong customer relations while mentoring junior

Qualifications

• 3+ years of BAS service experience.
• Strong HVAC troubleshooting knowledge.
• Experience reading control drawings and sequences of operation.
• Experience commissioning and servicing DDC systems.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass background screening and drug testing.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair BAS control systems and field devices.
• Diagnose HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and controls-related issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance and service agreement inspections.
• Support controller replacements, upgrades, migrations, and system expansions.
• Validate sequences of operation and optimize system performance.
• Assist with commissioning, retro-commissioning, and startup activities.
• Complete point-to-point verification and functional performance testing.
• Maintain accurate documentation and system backups.
• Develop strong customer relationships and serve as primary technical contact for accounts.
• Identify and develop service opportunities and coordinate with project managers, service managers, and sales teams.
• Mentor junior technicians and apprentices and support training.
