Job summary
Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a Construction Field Engineer 2/3 for HVAC & BAS. The role sits onsite in Los Alamos, NM, coordinating between Superintendents, Inspectors, Project Management, and Engineering Services to turn design concepts into on‑site reality.
The position requires strong construction expertise, quality oversight, safety compliance, and experience in HVAC and BAS systems. On‑site duties include document prep, field sketches, RFI coordination, and cost tracking.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related field is required.
- Strong knowledge of construction planning, quality assurance, safety practices, and project coordination.
- Experience supporting commercial/industrial construction projects is highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the link between Superintendents, Inspectors, PM, and Engineering Services to translate design concepts into on‑site reality.
- Drive projects through scope definition, pre‑construction planning, QA, and execution with on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
- Prepare field documentation, review work packages and drawings, and coordinate RFIs and field changes.
- Monitor cost vs. budget, track deficiencies, and maintain records of quantities and inspections.
