Job summary

Allied Mechanical, part of Kelso Industries, is hiring an HVAC Apprentice to grow into a long-term career in commercial HVAC service and maintenance. In this entry-level role, you\'ll work directly with licensed technicians on preventative maintenance, building hands-on skills while progressing toward your certifications.

You\'ll gain exposure to rooftop units, chillers, boilers, and cooling towers, with hands-on maintenance and active mentoring to advance toward an HVAC technician role.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Willing to pursue EPA 608 Certification.
  • Mechanically inclined with a genuine interest in learning the trade.
  • Able to work in mechanical rooms, on rooftops, and in confined spaces.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs and working outdoors in varying weather.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record.
  • Dependable with strong attendance history.
  • Currently enrolled in or graduate of a trade school or HVAC training program.
  • Background in mechanical, construction, or maintenance work.
  • Foundational knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support licensed technicians on scheduled preventative maintenance visits across commercial HVAC systems.
  • Handle hands-on maintenance work including filter replacement, coil cleaning, belt/pulley checks, and lubricating moving components.
  • Assist with troubleshooting routine service issues under direct technician supervision.
  • Build skills in reading wiring diagrams, blueprints, and manufacturer manuals.
  • Accompany technicians on service calls, equipment start-ups, and inspections.
  • Document maintenance activity, parts usage, and field observations for the lead technician.
  • Keep job sites clean, organized, and safe at all times.
  • Follow safety protocols, EPA regulations, and Allied Mechanical policies.
  • Load, transport, and manage tools and equipment between job sites.
  • Participate in company training and work steadily toward HVAC certification.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver?s license with a clean record
Mechanically inclined

About the Role

Allied Mechanical is hiring an HVAC Apprentice to grow into a long-term career in commercial HVAC service and maintenance. In this entry-level position, you\'ll work directly alongside licensed technicians on preventative maintenance calls, building real hands-on skills while progressing toward your own certifications and license. If you\'re mechanically curious and ready to learn a trade from the ground up, this is your starting point.
