Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group in Boise, Idaho, is seeking a Design Engineer - Transmission Line to help design, build, maintain, and upgrade high-voltage transmission infrastructure. You will work on overhead line design, routing, structure analysis, and comply with NESC/IEEE/ANSI/IBC standards.

The role requires a civil/structural engineering degree (ABET-accredited), 2+ years of HV line design experience, CAD proficiency (AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS), and up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• 2+ years of routing and design experience for overhead HV transmission lines.
• Proficient with CAD tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS).
• Knowledge of design codes such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Perform, lead, and oversee all engineering responsibilities related to overhead transmission line design, including modeling, routing, structure analysis, and loading trees.
• Utilize CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS) for scaled drawings and mapping.
• Implement engineering redlines with precision and ensure accuracy before finalizing drafting/drawing.
• Conduct engineering calculations (voltage drop, pole loading, etc.) and prepare joint use authorizations.
• Ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC and construction standards.
• Perform quality reviews and provide improvement recommendations.
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams to develop solutions and modifications.
• Maintain detailed project documentation and support engineering calculations.
• Work 40+ hours per week with potential overtime.
