Job summary

ManpowerGroup seeks an Electrical Engineer Power Design to bolster the Electrical Engineering team in Long Beach, CA. You will design HV/EHV substations and transmission lines, producing diagrams, layouts, and grounding plans for field-ready implementations.

The role emphasizes cross-disciplinary coordination, adherence to industry standards, and QA/QC discipline from draft through IFC/bid stages, delivering accurate, review-ready packages.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of electrical design experience in HV/EHV substations and TL projects.
• Strong knowledge of 115–500 kV substation design, layouts, one-lines/three-lines and grounding.
• Experience with plan & profile, structure lists, sag-tension, and conductor selection (PLS-CADD preferred).
• Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation, SDS) and PLS-CADD; Revit optional.
• Familiarity with IEEE/NESC/WECC and California utility requirements; ability to read sketches & vendor drawings.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update one-line/three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and wiring diagrams for substations.
• Create general arrangement layouts, equipment plans, sections, elevations, and foundation/interface drawings.
• Produce grounding plans and study results; coordinate with structural teams on supports and foundations.
• Lead transmission line plan & profile production; specify conductor/shield wire and span details.
• Support QA/QC through redlines, peer checks, checkpoint reviews, and IFC/bid/as-built design packages.
