Our client, a leading power engineering organization, is seeking an Electrical Engineer Power Design to join their team. As an Electrical Engineer Power Design, you will be part of the Electrical Engineering team supporting high-voltage substation and transmission line design efforts. The ideal candidate will have strong technical ownership, a quality-first mindset, and the ability to coordinate across disciplines to deliver accurate, field-ready electrical designs.

Pay Range: $125000 - $150000 base plus bonuses, benefits
What's the Job?
Develop and update one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and wiring diagrams for substations.
Create general arrangement layouts, equipment plans, sections, elevations, and foundation interface drawings, including conduit plans, cable schedules, trench details, and control building layouts.
Produce grounding plan drawings, grounding connections, and support grounding study implementation; coordinate with structural teams on steel framing, equipment supports, and foundation details.
Lead transmission line plan & profile production, including conductor/shield wire selection, structure locations, span details, and sag-tension modeling (PLS-CADD preferred).
Support QA/QC through redlines, corrections, peer checks, checkpoint reviews (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC), and preparation of IFC/bid/as-built design packages with strong document control.
What's Needed?
8–10 years of electrical design experience in high-voltage (HV/EHV) substations and Medium Voltage and transmission line (TL) projects.
Strong knowledge of 115–500 kV substation design, including equipment layouts, one-lines/three-lines, control and protection schematic drafting, grounding plans, lighting, and conduit/cable routing.
Demonstrated experience preparing plan & profile, structure lists, sag-tension, and conductor selection for TL projects (PLS-CADD preferred).
Proficiency with industry CAD tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or SDS – Substation Design Suite, and PLS-CADD plus PLS-Pole/PLS-Tower (preferred); Revit is optional but beneficial.
Working knowledge of utility and regional standards (e.g., IEEE, NESC, WECC, and California utility requirements) and the ability to interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and vendor drawings.
