Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Wendell, North Carolina, is seeking a Protection, Control & Automation Panel Design Engineer with High Voltage experience to design and develop sophisticated power automation and protection panels for critical substation systems. You will contribute as a hands-on design expert, integrating Siemens and third-party automation products to deliver innovative solutions.

The role offers a flexible hybrid work environment, with travel around 5% and opportunities to support projects

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
Five+ years in power system protection, control, and automation engineering including HV/MV utility applications.
Experience designing protection, control, and automation panels and related engineering deliverables.
Knowledge of protection relays and automation systems (Siemens, GE, SEL, ABB, or equivalent).
Familiarity with IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, IEC 60870‑5‑101/103/104, PROFINET, PROFIBUS and FAT/SAT procedures.

Responsibilities

Design electrical, mechanical, and system drawings for protection, control, and automation panels per specs.
Develop logic diagrams and protection schemes from drawings and customer requirements.
Prepare FAT and SAT procedures for protection systems projects.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to project teams.
Serve as main customer interface for problem-solving and commissioning support.
Support lifecycle from design through commissioning and assist sales with scope and proposals.
