Job summary

Uncharted Outdoorswomen in Colorado is seeking a second guide to help host scouting hikes, turkey hunts, small game hunts, and mentored big game hunts. You will work closely with the founder as a right-hand guide during September and the 2nd rifle season, helping new learners get into the outdoors.

The role is part-time, with involvement in events across CO, including camps and community activities. Candidates should be passionate, entrepreneurial, and comfortable teaching in a group setting.

Qualifications

• Lead 8 educational, in-person events independently.
• Pass a background check.
• Not currently employed by another outfitter.
• Part-time role with flexible schedule.
• Experience in hunting and archery instruction preferred.
• Strong teamwork and community-building mindset.

Responsibilities

• Host scouting hikes, turkey hunts, small game hunts, and mentored big game hunts.
• Support Erin as right-hand guide for events and classes.
• Coordinate happy hours, camps, and launches for your area.
• Promote and coordinate educator-led events with the team.

Job description

We are looking to add a second guide to work in our permitted National Forests! This position includes hosting scouting hikes, turkey hunts, small game hunts, and mentored big game hunts (where you shoot).

Event Duties

You will be Erin's, our founder, right-hand woman in the scouting hikes, small game hunts, turkey hunts, and be a big game mentor during September and 2nd rifle of OTC bull elk (not traditional guiding/you pull the trigger). Her classes have a waitlist, so we are adding a second position to create more opportunities for women to learn!

You May Be Required At

• Hunting Happy Hours hosted by our Community Committee.
• Big Game Skills Camp in Central City, CO
• Archery Camp in Bailey, CO
• Elk Camp in Moffat, CO

Ideal Candidates

• Deeply passionate about helping folks of all kinds, get into the outdoors.
• Confident in their hunting and/or survival skill sets because you will be teaching the class. (We do not hire people externally to teach our classes. We are one of the first woman-owned and operated organizations to do this.)
• Have an entrepreneurial mindset by being flexible and thinking outside of the box.
• Active on Facebook. (This is an online/outdoor start-up company.)
• Work well on a team, support other leaders/guides' events.
• Have a stable income from another source because this is part-time.
• Not currently employed by another outfitter.
• Want to be employed by Uncharted for more than 2 years.

Requirements

• Small event planning skills and foresight.
• Lead 8 educational, in-person events independently.
• Guide 1 joint retreat with the Dream Team.
• Independently or as a team, coordinate a happy hour, launch party for your area, or a fundraiser for one of our non-profit partners.
• Host Uncharted's client's favorite events! If you see them on the website more than twice, its a client favorite! We are also open to creating new styles of events based off of our knowledge of what works and what doesn't.
• Share your event to your local communities' Facebook Groups. We market on a multi-state level. Content is created for you.
• Locate affordable venues to host indoor classes if needed.
• GPS device for insurance reasons.
• Pass a background check.
• Respect others' communication boundaries; for example, our guides prefer all work-related communications to be in email. We keep texting in a friendly format to promote a healthy community within our organization. The right people make friends quickly here.

We are looking for applicants who fit one or more of these categories:

• Experienced hunters looking to teach rifle and archery big game hunting for elk and deer.
• Experienced hunters looking to teach small game hunting, including upland bird/dusky grouse hunts and rabbit hunts.
• Target shooters interested in leading archery, rifle, and shotgun classes.
