Job summary

Uncharted Outdoorswomen is seeking a patient Shotgun Instructor to lead the Shotgun Clinic for women new to shooting on the Front Range (Colorado Clays or similar venue).

You will teach a beginner-friendly program combining classroom safety, technique, trap basics, and sporting clays guidance, with small groups and individualized coaching to build confidence and responsible gun handling.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with shotgun shooting and beginner instruction.
• Excellent understanding of firearm safety and range rules.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Instruct on the Front Range at Colorado Clays or a comparable venue.

Responsibilities

• Teach the full Shotgun Clinic format, including classroom and range components.
• Provide personalized coaching and adjust for beginners.
• Lead safety briefings and enforce firearm safety at all times.
• Assist with equipment selection and basic gear education.
• Coordinate scheduling with venues and maintain a welcoming learning environment.

We are looking for a dedicated shotgun instructor to help our new hunters become confident with their fiearms!

Job Title: Shotgun Instructor For Wingshooting (Seasonal / Part-Time)

Schedule: 6-8 shotgun classes per year and the wingshooting shotgun class before th 5 pheasant hunts. (You can view these dates on the Uncharted website's events page.)

Position Summary

This position teaches Uncharted Outdoorswomen’s Shotgun Clinic, a beginner-friendly class designed to build confidence, safety knowledge, and fundamental shotgun skills for women new to shooting and wingshooting. Instruction is conducted in a supportive environment using a mix of classroom-style learning, trap shooting basics, and sporting clays to help attendees learn how to lead a bird. The instructor will work with small groups and provide individualized coaching to help participants safely and confidently shoot a shotgun.

Responsibilities

• Teach the full Uncharted Outdoorswomen Shotgun Clinic format:
• Part 1: Classroom-style learning covering safety, fundamentals, and firearm handling
• Part 2: Trap shooting with individualized coaching on loading, stance, mount, and confidence
• Part 3: Sporting clays guidance
• Conduct a thorough safety briefing and enforce strict firearm safety at all times.
• Provide personalized instruction for brand-new shooters and those with limited experience.
• Demonstrate proper stance, mount, sight picture, follow-through, chokes, and basic shotgun mechanics.
• Support students who are interested in self-defense–based shotgun skills or wingshooting.
• Assist students with equipment selection and basic gear education.
• Offer optional guidance on hunting topics, including bird identification, ethical hunting, conservation, and essential field gear.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and confidence-building learning environment.
• Coordinate class logistics with Uncharted Outdoorswomen and venue staff.
• Maintain professionalism, patience, and trauma-informed communication throughout instruction.

Requirements

• Strong experience with shotgun shooting and beginner instruction.
• Comfortable teaching women and brand-new shooters with patience and clarity.
• Excellent understanding of firearm safety and range rules.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must be able to instruct on the Front Range at Colorado Clays or a comparable approved venue.
• Strong communication skills and commitment to women’s empowerment and safe learning environments.
• Ability to demonstrate a variety of shotgun types and assist with equipment questions.

Equipment & Venue

• Instruction takes place at Colorado Clays or an approved Front Range shooting facility.
• Students may bring their own firearms or rent a shotgun through Colorado Clays.
• Targets and ammunition are included with student registration; Uncharted Outdoorswomen arranges payment directly with the venue.

Compensation

• $15/hour + Commissions
• Tips from students when applicable.
• Opportunities for additional one-on-one lessons as requested.
