The State of North Carolina - Adult Correction is seeking an HR Technician I to assist in coordinating daily HR operations at the Randall Building in Raleigh, NC. You will support recruitment, personnel actions, and benefits administration while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

You will handle HRIS data, maintain confidential records, and serve as a primary contact for policies, leave programs, and retirement onboarding. A strong customer-service orientation is essential.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or GED with 2 years HR experience.
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and HR policies.
  • Experience with HR systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment workflows in Workday, including posting vacancies and onboarding.
  • Process Personnel Action Requests (PARs) for hires, separations, promotions, transfers, and leave actions.
  • Update and manage electronic HR databases; maintain confidential records securely.
  • Serve as primary contact for employee inquiries on HR policies, benefits, and leave programs.
  • Assist with leave processes (FMLA, Workers’ Comp) and return-to-work coordination.
  • Provide guidance on retirement preparation and offboarding logistics.
  • Explain HR policies and state guidelines on recruitment, payroll, and performance management.
  • Participate in training and benefit briefings to stay current on policy changes.
