Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services or criminal justice field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in corrections or related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, maintain and supervise significant correction programs at a minimum custody facility.
  • Coordinate offenders' activities and support security operations.
  • Coordinate volunteer programs, recreation and supportive counseling.
  • Liaise with community agencies to enrich programs and establish new ones.
  • Work with contract agencies to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Perform under stressful conditions with incarcerated individuals.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with staff, offenders and the public.
