Under the supervision of the HR Manager/Supervisor, the position is primarily responsible for overseeing key HR functions in recruitment, compensation, safety, payroll, benefits, and employee relations, implementing company policies, and other functions of human resources. This role involves administrative tasks such as maintaining employee records, managing onboarding, and ensuring legal compliance, while also often giving support to team members. This position is for a second shift.
Talent Acquisition and Onboarding
- Develop, facilitate, and implement all phases of the recruitment process. Oversee full‑cycle recruitment including screening resumes, conducting interviews, partnering with recruitment agencies, and managing the onboarding of new hires.
- Recruitment and hiring:
- Consult with managers to identify hiring needs
- Post job openings and screen applications
- Schedule and conduct interviews and oversee preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials
- Conduct background checks
- Process new hire paperwork and conduct orientations
- Collaborate with department managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria
- Identify and implement efficient recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization
- Collaborate with the hiring manager and/or other HR staff during the offer process for start dates and other pertinent details
Employee Relations
- Guide employees on HR procedures and policies, manage complaints, and contribute to a positive work environment
Compensation and Benefits
- Assist with the administration of employee benefits plans and ensure compliance with regulations
HR Administration
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, monitor policy violations and handle administrative tasks related to HR functions
Performance Management
- Coordinate staff evaluations and provide guidance to department leaders on performance management
Compliance and Administration
- Ensure all HR functions comply with federal, state, and local regulations
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records
- Support the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures
Safety
- Ensure the safety action plan is updated and communicated
- Responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing the company's employee safety at work
- Ensure that the company complies with and adheres to OHS guidelines to reduce work‑related injuries
- Collaborate with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures
- Coordinate safety programs to promote and ensure a safe working environment
- Evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs
- Review current safety training and recommend revisions, improvements and updates
- Submit recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program, including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety and risk management
- Identify opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems
- Share environmental safety information with appropriate levels in the organization
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules
Required Skills
- High school education or equivalent; business school, associate degree or equivalent is a plus
- Minimum 1 year of HR‑related experience
- Knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws and regulations
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Exceptional organizational and problem‑solving skills
- Proficiency in HRIS and other HR software preferred
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods
