About this Role
Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II (Supervisory), the Staff ServicesManager I (Specialist) is responsible for and acts as an advisor/consultant on statewide examdelivery/modality, and human resources information systems for the Apprenticeship Program.The incumbent is responsible for the more varied and complex technical work in providingtraining, consultation, and technical assistance to state departments for the ApprenticeshipProgram and ECOS Program and advise on matters related to any/all civil service examinationswhich includes examination administration, and application/interpretation of civil service lawsand rules. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: examination consultation andtechnical assistance, policy guidance, and interpretation of SPB selection laws, rules andregulations; provide examination information; and respond to questions relating to theApprenticeship Program from State Department selection staff, State employees, candidatesseeking State employment and the general public. Additionally, the incumbent serves as aproject leader in the Examination and Certification Online System (ECOS) Program, and worksclosely with the ECOS Business and Consultation teams to design and develop ECOS for allselection functions (including advertisement, recruitment, and hiring) for the ApprenticeshipProgram. The incumbent will work well under pressure in a self-directed and self-motivatedenvironment.

2.Describe your experience providing technical guidance and consultation related to examinations and various selection strategies including the interpretation of laws, rules, and regulations within the selection field. Please specify the situation(s), what you did, and the result(s).
