Job summary

Dayton Physicians seeks an experienced Human Resources Manager to oversee daily HR programs and guide physicians, leaders, and team members. The role ensures compliant, aligned HR practices and supports a culture focused on quality patient care.

Reporting to the CFO and President, you will administer policies, manage recruitment, benefits, and performance processes while maintaining confidential records and partnering with leadership to meet organizational needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in HR, Business Admin, or related field.
  • 3–5 years progressive HR experience; healthcare experience preferred.
  • 3–5 years’ experience leading teams.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws, benefits, performance management, and HR practices.

Responsibilities

  • Administers HR policies, procedures, programs, and employee records.
  • Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and ensures HR practices remain compliant.
  • Partners with leadership on employee relations, performance management, and workplace concerns.
  • Manages recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
  • Administers employee benefit programs and coordinates payroll, PTO, and leave administration.
  • Maintains job descriptions and supports compensation administration including market research.

Job description

Under the direction of the CFO and President, the Human Resources Manager oversees the day-to-day administration of human resources programs and provides guidance and support to physicians, leaders, managers, and team members. This position ensures HR practices are consistent, compliant, and aligned with the organization’s goals, culture, and commitment to quality patient care.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, eight-hour shifts

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Administers HR policies, procedures, programs, and employee records.
  • Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and ensures HR practices remain compliant.
  • Partners with leadership and managers on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, workplace concerns, and organizational needs.
  • Manage recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, employee changes, and offboarding.
  • Administers employee benefit programs and coordinates with Finance regarding payroll, benefits, PTO, and leave administration.
  • Maintains job descriptions and supports compensation administration, including market research and salary reviews.
  • Coordinates the performance appraisal process and supports managers in effectively addressing performance.
  • Identifies and coordinates training and development opportunities.
  • Administers leave programs and manage workers’ compensation claims.
  • Develops, updates, and communicates HR policies and the employee handbook.
  • Maintains accurate, confidential personnel records and prepares HR reports as needed.
  • Provides HR guidance and recommendations to managers, Directors, physicians, and leadership.
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate regarding employment matters.
  • Serves as Corporate Compliance officer, supports organizational compliance initiatives, and participates in committees and special projects.
  • Maintains a visible presence at practice locations and remains accessible to team members and leaders.
  • Protects confidential employee and patient information and follows all applicable healthcare privacy and safety requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and/ or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of progressive HR experience; healthcare experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience leading teams
  • Working knowledge of employment laws, employee relations, benefits, performance management, and HR practices.
General Skill Requirements:
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.

  • Attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position to provide excellent customer service to both our internal and external stakeholders.
Physical/ Mental Demands:

This position requires the ability to hear and speak clearly. This position frequently is required to use wrists, hands and fingers to touch, type and hold objects. This position is normally required to sit approximately ninety (90) percent of the day with an occasional need to walk, bend, twist and carry 5-10 pounds a distance up to four (4) feet. This position requires the ability to answer telephone calls, transfer calls and work on the computer.

Environmental/ Working Conditions:

Work will be completed in a smoke-free, climate controlled medical office with the usual hazards of airborne germs, chemicals, various odors, blood, and other hazardous waste products. Office spaces may include the use of a parking lot within one half mile of the working location and may include the need to utilize stairs to access the working location. This position may require travel to other office locations.
