Job summary

Independent Furniture Supply seeks an experienced Human Resources Manager to support a 240-employee manufacturing facility in Tupelo, MS. This onsite role manages the employee lifecycle end to end, partners closely with operations to support a safer workplace, and ensures HR reporting and compliance needs are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field.
  • 3–5 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing/industrial environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, COBRA, HIPAA, EEOC and related laws.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Administer all stages of employment: hiring, transfers, promotions, leaves, performance management, separations.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze turnover trends.
  • Process status changes, maintain files, support policy compliance.
  • Support succession planning and workforce development initiatives.
  • Serve as a resource on HR policies for employees and supervisors.
  • Investigate employee complaints and recommend resolutions.
  • Coach managers on employee relations, performance management, and corrective action.
  • Foster a positive culture focused on engagement, accountability, and respect.
  • Administer benefits programs and annual open enrollment.
  • Administer FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers’ compensation, and other leaves.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local laws; maintain records and postings.
  • Assist with policy updates and audits; support reporting.
  • Partner with operations to promote a safe work environment and safety training.

Responsibilities
  • Administer all stages of employment, including hiring, transfers, promotions, leaves of absence, performance management, and separations
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze turnover trends
  • Process employee status changes, maintain personnel files, and support policy compliance
  • Support succession planning and workforce development initiatives
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and supervisors on HR policies and workplace concerns
  • Investigate employee complaints and recommend appropriate resolutions
  • Coach managers on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, and conflict resolution
  • Foster a positive workplace culture focused on engagement, accountability, and respect
  • Administer benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and retirement plans
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment and respond to employee benefit inquiries
  • Administer FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers’ compensation, and other leave programs
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, maintain required records, and manage labor law postings
  • Assist with policy updates and employee handbook revisions, and support audits and reporting requirements
  • Partner with operations to promote a safe work environment, coordinate safety training and orientation, and participate in safety committee meetings and inspections
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims, return-to-work programs, safety metrics, and support accident investigations with corrective actions
  • Promote OSHA compliance and continuous safety improvement initiatives
  • Review timekeeping records for accuracy, process HR-related payroll changes, and coordinate with payroll to ensure compensation and benefit deductions are correct
  • Prepare HR reports and metrics, including turnover, absenteeism, recruiting, and headcount
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee information and recommend process improvements to increase HR efficiency
  • Participate in special HR projects as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred)
  • 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience supporting a manufacturing or industrial environment (preferred)
  • Experience with employee relations, benefits administration, recruiting, and safety programs
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, COBRA, HIPAA, EEOC, and other employment regulations
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices and employment law
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred certifications
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP)
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR)
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification (preferred)
Working conditions and physical requirements
  • Primarily based in a manufacturing facility with regular exposure to production areas
  • Occasional exposure to noise, machinery, temperature variations, and PPE requirements
  • May require occasional after-hours support for recruiting events, investigations, or emergency situations
  • Ability to walk throughout the manufacturing facility daily
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and use a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to respond to emergencies within the plant environment
