The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading and executing all human resources functions within a fast-paced retail environment. This position serves as a strategic business partner to store leadership and is responsible for employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management, compliance, employee engagement, training and development, compensation administration, and workforce planning. The Human Resources Manager promotes a positive workplace culture, ensures compliance with employment laws and company policies, and supports the organization's goals through effective people practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and coaching to managers and employees on workplace issues, performance concerns, policy interpretation, and conflict resolution.
- Conduct workplace investigations and recommend appropriate resolutions.
- Manage employee complaints and concerns with professionalism, confidentiality, and consistency.
- Support corrective action processes and ensure fairness and compliance with company policies.
Employee Relations:

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding:
- Partner with retail leadership to develop recruitment strategies that attract top talent.
- Oversee full-cycle recruiting activities, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
- Ensure a positive candidate and new hire experience.
- Develop workforce planning initiatives to meet operational staffing needs.
Performance Management:
- Guide managers through performance evaluations, coaching, and development conversations.
- Support succession planning and talent development initiatives.
- Monitor employee performance trends and recommend improvement strategies.
Training & Development:
- Identify training needs and coordinate employee development programs.
- Facilitate leadership development and management training.
- Promote continuous learning and career growth opportunities.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of employment law updates and HR best practices.
- Oversee policy administration and employee handbook compliance.
- Partner with legal counsel and leadership regarding employment-related matters as needed.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Administration:
- Assist with compensation planning, market analysis, and salary recommendations.
- Support benefits administration and employee benefit education.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR metrics.
- Prepare reports and analyze workforce trends.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Minimum 3 years of HR experience supporting retail, multi-site, or high-volume operations.
- Experience conducting workplace investigations and managing employee relations matters.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
- Experience partnering with operational leaders and providing strategic HR guidance.
Preferred:
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
- Union Experience
- Experience supporting multi-location retail operations.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel between retail locations as needed.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment for extended periods.
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support retail operations.
