Job description

We are a rapidly growing manufacturing and construction company looking for a hands-on, strategic HR Manager to lead and strengthen our people function during a significant period of growth.

This role is ideal for an HR leader who enjoys balancing strategy with execution. You will oversee a growing HR team and partner closely with leadership, operations, manufacturing, construction, and field teams to build the people infrastructure needed to support continued expansion.

The successful candidate will bring strong HR fundamentals, excellent judgment, a practical approach to employee relations, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities
HR Leadership & Strategy

Lead and develop a team of HR professionals.

Develop and execute HR strategies that support rapid organizational growth.

Partner with executive and operational leadership on workforce planning, organizational development, and talent strategy.

Build scalable HR processes, policies, and systems that can grow with the company.

Establish HR metrics and reporting to help leadership make informed workforce decisions.

Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and leaders across the organization.

Develop HR practices that effectively support both office and field-based employees.

Partner with operations leaders to address the unique workforce needs of manufacturing and construction environments.

Support workforce scheduling, attendance, turnover, retention, and productivity initiatives.

Help ensure HR practices align with applicable employment requirements and workplace safety expectations.

Build strong relationships with employees and leaders across multiple work environments and levels of the organization.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

Oversee recruiting strategy for corporate, manufacturing, skilled trades, construction, field, and operational positions.

Work with recruiters to develop proactive recruiting pipelines for hard-to-fill and high-volume positions.

Partner with hiring managers to improve job descriptions, interview processes, selection, and onboarding.

Help forecast workforce needs as the company expands into new projects, markets, facilities, or locations.

Strengthen employer branding and employee referral programs.

Employee Relations & Performance Management

Provide guidance and coaching to managers on employee relations, performance issues, investigations, and corrective action.

Ensure consistent and fair application of company policies.

Lead investigations involving workplace concerns and employee complaints.

Develop and improve performance management processes.

Help create a culture of accountability, communication, respect, and high performance.

Compensation, Benefits & HR Administration

Oversee compensation practices, benefits administration, and employee programs in partnership with the HR team and external providers.

Regularly assess compensation competitiveness and internal equity.

Support annual compensation and benefits planning.

Ensure accurate and timely HR documentation, employee records, and reporting.

Help manage HR systems/HRIS and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.

Compliance & Risk Management

Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Partner with leadership and safety/operations teams on workplace policies and employee-related risk.

Maintain and update the employee handbook and HR policies as the organization evolves.

Ensure appropriate documentation and consistent HR practices across the company.

Culture & Organizational Development

Help reinforce the company's culture as it grows.

Develop employee engagement and retention initiatives.

Establish effective onboarding and orientation programs.

Support leadership development and manager training.

Identify organizational challenges and develop practical solutions to improve communication, engagement, and performance.

What We're Looking For

7+ years of progressive HR experience, with demonstrated experience operating at the HR Manager or HR Business Partner level.

Experience leading or supervising an HR team.

Experience in manufacturing, construction, industrial, engineering, field operations, or another operationally intensive environment strongly preferred.

Demonstrated experience supporting a rapidly growing organization.

Strong employee relations and conflict-resolution skills.

Experience with recruiting, compensation, benefits, performance management, and employment compliance.

Strong business judgment and the ability to balance employee needs with organizational priorities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to build credibility with executives, managers, frontline employees, and field personnel.

Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working in an environment where priorities can change quickly.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.

SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is a plus.

The Ideal Candidate

You are a builder. You have enough HR experience to know what good looks like, but you are also comfortable rolling up your sleeves and fixing problems yourself.

You thrive in a company that is growing quickly and may not have every process figured out yet. You can move between strategic conversations with executives and practical conversations with supervisors and employees. You are comfortable creating structure without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.

Most importantly, you see HR as a business function and competitive advantage, not simply an administrative department.

Why Join Us

Opportunity to build and shape the HR function of a rapidly growing company.

Direct partnership with senior leadership.

Leadership responsibility for a talented HR team.

Significant influence over culture, talent, and organizational development.

Fast-paced environment with opportunities for professional growth.

Ability to make a visible impact on the company's next stage of expansion.
