You will be the empathetic and reliable go-to for requests from ‘Spoons’ as they navigate our HRIS, benefits, onboarding, and offboarding processes. You will own Open Enrollment, our summer internship program, and our mentorship program. The HR Manager also partners closely with other functions on DEI and programming efforts.

On the recruiting side, you are a master matchmaker eager to attract the best talent. You will own the full lifecycle of recruitment, serve as an ambassador for the agency, and develop trusted relationships with internal hiring managers. A master multitasker, you will keep everyone organized while prioritizing the candidate experience.

We seek someone passionate about details and service design, aligned with our values: try anything, give a damn, and enjoy each other. The role reports to the VP, People. This is a hybrid role based in New York, working in-office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Responsibilities
  • Manage onboarding for hires, partnering with IT, Payroll, and Office Management.
  • Advise employees on People processes and offerings, including HRIS, payroll, leaves, immigration, etc.
  • Be the benefits point of contact, managing Open Enrollment.
  • Handle Employee Relations and Performance cases.
  • Track labor law changes and compliance, suggesting policy updates.
  • Manage offboarding processes for voluntary and involuntary departures.
  • Oversee internship and mentorship programs.
  • Manage DEI programs and participate in the DEI council.
  • Lead Learning & Development initiatives.
  • Assist with goal setting, compensation, analytics, and reporting.
  • Continuously improve People Team processes with a focus on employee experience.
Recruiting
  • Own full-cycle recruitment across departments and levels.
  • Understand job descriptions and team contexts quickly.
  • Screen applicants, source talent, and coordinate interviews.
  • Follow up with interviewers and keep hiring managers informed.
  • Customize ATS and build a talent pipeline.
  • Represent Giant Spoon at career fairs and industry events.
Requirements
  • 4+ years in a generalist HR role in a fast-paced, creative environment.
  • At least 1 year in an advertising agency, understanding agency workflows.
  • At least 1 year in full-cycle recruiting, preferably in agency disciplines.
  • Passion for improving the employee experience.
  • Experience with HRIS (Justworks a bonus) and ATS.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and NY labor law (California a bonus).
  • Ability to handle confidential information securely.
  • Excellent prioritization, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Tech-savvy with familiarity in Google Suite, Slack, and Microsoft Office.

The annual salary range is $90,000 - $115,000, with benefits including health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and more.
