About the Job:
Purpose Statement:
The Manager of Human Resources leads and manages the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs for the facility, including employment and compliance, recruiting and staffing, employee orientation, onboarding, and training, performance management and improvement, employee retention and engagement, policy development, employee relations, and compensation, payroll, and benefits administration. Provides support and guidance to facility management and employees with a focus on consistent employment practices.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Provides expertise and support in Human Resources administration, including policy and procedure, employer/employee relations, HR strategy, regulatory compliance, and employment law. Guides interpretation of policies and procedures.
- Translates complex information and offers specialized advice in Human Resources disciplines.
- Develops and maintains tracking systems for open positions. Recruits, screens, onboards, and orients new hires according to facility needs and budget.
- Develops and conducts staff development programs, including training and education. Ensures licenses and certifications are current.
- Designs and implements retention initiatives, including rewards, recognition, and engagement strategies.
- Develops and recommends employee relations practices to foster positive employer-employee relationships and high morale. Provides coaching and conflict resolution.
- Conducts investigations of employee complaints or incidents.
- Administers benefit programs, including enrollment, unemployment, workers’ compensation claims, and leave benefits.
- Leads a team through hiring, onboarding, performance assessments, motivation, training, scheduling, and coaching to meet department goals.
- Manages employee performance with updated job descriptions, evaluations, and merit increases.
- Develops and maintains a competitive and equitable compensation program, including salary/wage scales.
- Enters employee data accurately, maintains compliant employee files, and responds to agency surveys.
- Identifies data requirements for reports and ensures accurate presentation of information.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required, or High School diploma with comparable experience.
- At least four years of progressive HR experience required.
- Knowledge of recruitment, selection, training, compensation, employee relations, and HRIS required.
- Experience with regulatory agencies (Joint Commission, CMS, etc.) preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Effective communication skills, good judgment, and confidentiality.
Licenses, Designations, Certifications:
- PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred.
Supervisory Requirements:
Minimum two years of proven supervisory or management experience in HR, preferably in healthcare.
