Based at the Chicago facility and supporting Naperville and Indianapolis locations with ~250 employees, the role focuses on recruitment, onboarding, HR administration, reporting, and compliance to enable our workforce objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field; 3–5 years HR experience.
  • Experience in recruitment and benefits administration in manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and company policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work with all levels.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email.
  • Detail-oriented with strong time and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead recruitment processes with Talent Acquisition, including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviews, and background checks.
  • Prepare job descriptions, job offers, and related agreements.
  • Facilitate onboarding and initial training for new employees.
  • Maintain recruitment records and ensure compliance with company and legal requirements.
  • Work with Total Rewards to support benefits administration and open enrollment.
  • Update job descriptions to align with compensation framework.
  • Track HR KPIs and generate reports for management and corporate teams.
  • Maintain employee records, personnel files, and HR documentation.

Job description

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist will provide comprehensive HR support to the operational divisions, working closely with the HR Business Partner and collaborating with Corporate HR teams, including Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, and Health & Safety. The role covers recruitment support, and compliance with federal and provincial employment regulations. The HR Generalist acts as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, supporting a positive work environment and contributing to the division’s operational and strategic objectives.

Location

This position is based at the Chicago, Illinois facility, but will work with the HRBP to provide support for Naperville, Illinois and Indianpolis, Indiana facilities with a total of approximately 250 employees.

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the HR Business Partner and will collaborate closely with the General Manager, regional management teams, and employees across the business.

Specific Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Onboarding:
  • Lead recruitment processes in collaboration with the Talent Acquisition team, including job postings, candidate sourcing & screening, interviews, and reference and background checks.
  • Prepare job descriptions, job offers, and other related agreements.
  • Facilitate onboarding and integration of new employees, including orientation programs and initial training coordination.
  • Maintain accurate recruitment and employee records, ensuring compliance with company and legal requirements.
  • Work with the Total Rewards team to support benefits administration.
  • Support open enrollment by educating employee on benefit programs, address benefits inquiries, and support enrollment activities, including detailed explanations of plan options and coverage.
  • Ensure job descriptions are regularly updated to support accurate job evaluations and alignment within the compensation framework.
HR Administration & Reporting:
  • Track and report on HR KPIs, including turnover, job requisitions, new hires, retention rates, health & safety incidents, and other metrics or reports to support workforce planning.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HR documentation.
  • Generate HR reports for management and corporate teams.
  • Assist with audits and compliance reporting
Health, Safety & Compliance:
  • Collaborate with Corporate Health & Safety and the operations team to ensure workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
Special Projects:
  • Participate in HR-related projects as assigned by the HRBP and/or Corporate HR.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives to optimize HR operations within the division.
  • Ensure successful implementation and communication of new initiatives across the division
Candidate Requirements & Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management is ideal, but formal training in Human Resources and 3-5 years of work experience in HR, with exposure to multiple HR areas is welcomed.
  • Experience in recruitment and benefit administration in manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail required.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and company policies with the ability to provide guidance and recommendations.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally.
  • Excellent time and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Strong problem identification and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve HR-related issues effectively.
  • Open-minded, flexible, and adaptable, able to adjust to evolving priorities and changing organizational needs.
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures accurately.
  • Motivated and self-directed individual with proven initiative and hands-on philosophy.

Compensation:

$30.00 – $32.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
