Job summary

Gehl-Food- is seeking a proactive HR Generalist to support our manufacturing team in a fast-paced environment. You will partner with employees and leaders on employee relations, performance management, compliance, retention, recruitment, and other HR functions to ensure consistent application of company policies.

Ideal candidate has 2+ years HR experience in manufacturing, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and knowledge of EEO, FMLA, FLSA, HIPAA, and ADA.

Qualifications

• 2+ years HR experience in manufacturing, production, or safety-focused environment.
• Experience in employee relations, payroll, recruitment, compensation, benefits, or training.
• Working knowledge of EEO, FMLA, FLSA, HIPAA, and ADA.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary resource for employee relations, including counseling, investigations, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.
• Partner with business leaders on performance management, corrective action, promotions/transfers, terminations, pay changes, and employee retention.
• Conduct regular meetings with operational leaders to proactively identify and address workforce needs.
• Manage attendance, progressive discipline, and the company’s 30/60/90-day review program.
• Support employee engagement, recognition, retention, surveys, and management coaching initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with employment laws, company policies, government reporting requirements, safety standards, and GMP.

Position Overview

This role partners with employees and leaders on employee relations, performance management, compliance, retention, recruitment, and other HR functions. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator and problem solver who can build strong relationships while ensuring consistent application of company policies and employment practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary resource for employee relations, including counseling, investigations, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.
• Partner with business leaders on performance management, corrective action, promotions/transfers, terminations, pay changes, and employee retention.
• Conduct regular meetings with operational leaders to proactively identify and address workforce needs.
• Manage attendance, progressive discipline, and the company’s 30-60-90-day review program.
• Support employee engagement, recognition, retention, surveys, and management coaching initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with employment laws, company policies, government reporting requirements, safety standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Identify workplace trends, operational challenges, and employee concerns and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Support HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with payroll, compensation, benefits, recruitment, training, employment-status changes, time-off administration, and documentation as needed.
• Assist with agency claims, legal investigations, and related documentation.
• Provide flexible HR support for a 24/7 operation, including employee relations matters and town hall meetings.
• Perform other HR duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing, production, or safety-focused environment.
• Experience in one or more HR areas, including employee/labor relations, payroll, recruitment, compensation, benefits, or training.
• Working knowledge of employment laws and workplace compliance requirements, including EEO, FMLA, FLSA, HIPAA, and ADA.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
