Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting the Benefits, Human Resources, and Recruiting functions of Pima JTED. The position provides project support, assists with department initiatives, and performs a variety of personnel and related duties. This position manages system configurations, workflows, implementations, data integrity, reporting, personnel records, recruitment and onboarding, employee benefits, compensation and classification, and compliance requirements. The position requires a high level of confidentiality, accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Administers, maintains, and optimizes the District's HRIS and related HR technology systems, including employee records, organizational structures, system settings, forms, workflows, and approval processes.
- Supports and participates in HRIS and third-party system implementations, enhancements, integrations, and deployments, including requirements gathering, configuration, data migration, testing, user acceptance testing, implementation, training, and post-implementation support.
- Analyzes HR processes and system functionality to identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve workflows; partners with HR, Payroll, Finance, Information Technology, and vendors to develop and implement effective system solutions.
- Maintains system documentation, data integrity, and security and serves as a resource for HRIS functionality, workflows, reporting, and troubleshooting.
- Administers and maintains confidential personnel records and processes related to staffing, employee classifications, compensation, performance, training, attendance, leaves, and separation in accordance with District policies and applicable requirements.
- Coordinates recruitment and onboarding activities, including job postings, application screening, interviews, background checks, reference and employment verifications, applicant communications, employment contracts, and new employee orientation.
- Interprets and explains HR policies, procedures, benefits, employment practices, and applicable laws and regulations to employees, applicants, supervisors, and administrators.
- Administers employee benefit programs, including health, insurance, retirement, and savings plans, and coordinates workers' compensation, leave, unemployment claims, and related processes with vendors, carriers, and applicable agencies.
- Supports compensation and classification programs, including job descriptions, occupational classifications, exempt/non-exempt determinations, compensation evaluations, salary surveys, and related analysis in partnership with the Payroll Manager.
- Monitors and supports compliance with applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations, including EEO, ADA, affirmative action, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements.
- Prepares, maintains, and analyzes HR reports, records, spreadsheets, correspondence, and other documentation to support HR, compliance, and operational needs.
- Conducts exit interviews and coordinates completion of required separation documentation and employment verification requests.
- Provides general administrative and project support to the Director of Human Resources and assists with department initiatives as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/Education and/or Experience:
- Three (3) to six (6) years of experience in Human Resources and/or benefits administration, including at least three (3) years of hands-on experience with HRIS or benefits system configuration and workflow development.
- Strong computer skills, including experience managing documents within network drives, shared platforms, and systems such as Microsoft Teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience using pivot tables and functions such as CONCATENATE and Text to Columns.
- Knowledge of applicable labor laws, payroll regulations, HR compliance and best practices, and state and federal requirements.
- Must be able to obtain an IVP Finger Print Clearance card
- MMR immunization required (unless born prior to January 1, 1957)
- Negative TB test (within the last year)
Preferred Qualifications/Education and/or Experience:
- Some college coursework in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- Experience working in an educational or school district environment.
- Experience using School ERP Pro
