AAPCI is hiring a Human Resources Generalist to support staff with recruiting, onboarding and HR compliance. You will source candidates, screen, interview, and guide hiring managers through decisions while maintaining legal and policy standards.

Key responsibilities include creating engaging job descriptions, scheduling interviews, extending offers, and ensuring a positive candidate experience. Spanish skills are a plus; the role requires strong organizational skills and confidentiality.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the success of the organization by executing the daily functions of the Human Resources department, including recruiting. The successful candidate is responsible for the full recruitment lifecycle, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and hiring top talents across various departments within the organization. Collaborating closely with hiring directors to identify needs, develop recruitment strategies, and ensure a positive candidate experience while meeting hiring goals.This position requires solid organizational and analytical skills, with a focus on attention to detail and strong background in Compliance and Labor Laws.As a Human Resources Generalist, you will be responsible for:Actively seeking qualified candidates through various channels like job boards, LinkedIn, professional networks, employee referrals, and outreach to build a diverse talent pool.Crafting compelling job descriptions that accurately reflect the role requirements and company culture to attract top candidates.Reviewing resumes and conduct initial phone screenings to assess candidate’s qualifications and fit for the role.Scheduling and conducting virtual interviews with hiring directors, including behavioral and technical assessments, to evaluate candidate’s suitability.Providing detailed feedback to hiring managers on candidate strengths and weaknesses to inform decision-making.Extending job offers to selected candidates and manage the onboarding process.Fostering strong relationships with hiring directors to understand their team needs and proactively identify potential talent gaps.Staying informed about industry trends, competitor activity, and market compensation to assist with recruitment strategies.Monitoring key recruitment metrices such as time-to-hire, source of hire, and fill rate to identify areas of improvement.Contributing to promoting the company’s employer brand through various channels to attract high-quality candidates.Conducting or acquiring background checks and employee eligibility verifications.Maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; and review policies and practices to maintain compliance.Maintaining knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.Serves as a back up to HR Generalist.Performing other duties as assigned.Required Skills/Abilities:Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with candidates and hiring directorsStrong sourcing ad screening abilities to identify qualified candidates efficientlyProven experience in conducting successful interviews and assessing candidate’s potentialProficiency in using Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and recruitment toolsWorking knowledge of employment laws and compliance requirementsAbility to work independently and as part of a team to achieve recruitment goalsStrategic thinking and problem-solving skills to navigate complex hiring challengesExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to maintain confidentiality.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Experience using the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems (Paycom).Education and ExperienceHigh School diploma with 8+ years’ experience in Human Resources.Associates degree with 3+years’ experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related fieldBachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field with 1-2 years’ experienceFluency in both verbal and written communication in Spanish a plusPhysical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 5 pounds at timesMust be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilitiesWorking knowledge of the NYC homeless shelter system is a plusCompensation and BenefitsBase salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with the requirements of the New York State and New York City pay transparency laws.
