Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a motivated Human Resources Generalist to support a wide range of HR functions across our organization. This role partners with employees and leadership to foster a positive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, able to build relationships across all levels, manage recruitment, onboarding, leaves, and HR reporting, and thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 2-5 years of Human Resources experience.
• Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including recruitment and selection practices, EEOC requirements, and Department of Labor regulations.

Responsibilities

• Partner with hiring managers and Talent Acquisition to identify staffing needs and support recruitment and selection activities.
• Provide guidance and support on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, investigations, attendance issues, corrective action, and performance concerns.
• Coordinate employee engagement programs and culture-building events.
• Assist with labor relations activities and contract administration with union representatives.
• Handle onboarding, offboarding, and orientation processes to ensure a positive employee experience.
• Administer leave of absence and accommodation programs (FMLA, ADA, USERRA) and compliance.
• Support HR reporting, audits, policy administration, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:Promote a strong culture of safety and support compliance with company and regulatory safety requirements.Partner with hiring managers and Talent Acquisition to identify staffing needs and support recruitment and selection activities.Provide guidance and support on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, investigations, attendance issues, corrective action, and performance concerns.Coordinate employee engagement programs, recognition initiatives, and culture-building events that strengthen teamwork and organizational values.Support labor relations activities and assist with contract administration, including collaboration with union representatives and bargaining committees.Conduct new hire orientation and facilitate onboarding and offboarding processes to create a positive employee experience.Administer and monitor leave of absence and accommodation programs, including FMLA, ADA, USERRA, and other applicable federal and state regulations.Assist with HR reporting, audits, policy administration, compliance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee information and documentation.Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.Maintain regular, full-time, onsite attendance.What We're Looking ForRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.2-5 years of Human Resources experience.Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including recruitment and selection practices, EEOC requirements, and Department of Labor regulations.Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.Preferred QualificationsHuman Resources experience in a manufacturing environment.Experience utilizing HRIS and workforce management systems.Experience with Workday and UKG.Exposure to labor relations and unionized work environments.Professional HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar) is a plus.What Makes You SuccessfulYou build strong relationships and establish credibility at all levels of the organization.You are a self-starter who approaches challenges with urgency and accountability.You can balance multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.You exercise sound judgment and demonstrate a high level of integrity.You are committed to creating a positive employee experience and workplace culture.Zekelman Industries offers competitive compensation and excellent benefits, including low-cost, high-quality medical and dental benefits.
