Job summary

We, Zekelman Industries, seek an experienced professional to oversee manufacturing optimization and lead continuous quality control initiatives in our Illinois operations. The role drives process improvements, analyzes workflows, and guides capital projects to enhance efficiency and uptime.

The ideal candidate will have a mechanical/industrial/manufacturing engineering background, 5+ years in steel, and Lean/Six Sigma or PMP certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• 5 years of industrial experience in steel industry; experience managing large capital projects preferred.
• Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or PMP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
• Drives production efficiencies and equipment uptime through upgrades, tooling improvements, and process improvements.
• Analyzes production workflows, equipment placement, and space utilization to improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Coordinates maintenance and repair activities to ensure all work follows procedures and instructions, maintaining safe and operational equipment.
• Assists with evaluating lean manufacturing initiatives to strengthen safety, improve flow, reduce cycle times, and drive improvements.
• Performs root cause analysis to identify failure mechanisms and prevent recurrence of issues.
• Develops and maintains spares strategies to support timely repairs and rebuilds.
• Mentors operation and maintenance staff on equipment operation.
